What it is
A simulated version of a platform, device or control station, modelled around the tasks the operator has to perform on it.
How it works
The simulation models system states and the procedures that move between them. Operators interact through replicated screens, physical controls or both.
Hardware, simulation and operator interfaces are developed as one system, so switches, displays and simulated behaviour stay consistent.
What can be simulated
- Normal operating procedures and checklists
- Start-up, shutdown and mode changes
- Faults, failures and system degradation
- Crew coordination on shared equipment
Instructor control
Instructors can introduce faults and degraded states during a session and observe how the operator responds.
